Cathedral of Saints Simon and Jude

The Cathedral of Saints Simon and Jude is the Roman Catholic cathedral of the Diocese of Phoenix. It was founded May 15, 1953 by Reverend Paul Smith and was originally part of the Diocese of Tucson. The current building was dedicated on December 11, 1966 and became a cathedral with the formation of the Diocese of Phoenix in 1969, elevated to cathedral status under Pope Paul VI.
The current rector is Rev. Robert Clements and the cathedral is overseen by the current bishop of the Diocese of Phoenix, Bishop Thomas Olmsted. It is located in central Phoenix, Arizona near Interstate 17, on 27th Ave. north of Bethany Home Road. Adjacent to the cathedral is the Saints Simon and Jude Catholic School. Other buildings on the campus of the school include the Mary Ward House.
