Catfish Metkovich

George Michael Metkovich (October 8, 1920May 17, 1995) born in Angels Camp, California to Croatian parents was an Outfielder and First Baseman for the Boston Red Sox (1943-46), Cleveland Indians (1947), Chicago White Sox (1949), Pittsburgh Pirates (1951-53), Chicago Cubs (1953) and Milwaukee Braves (1954).

He helped the Red Sox win the 1946 American League Pennant.

He finished 38th in voting for the 1952 National League MVP for playing in 125 Games and having 373 At Bats, 41 Runs, 101 Hits, 18 Doubles, 3 Triples, 7 Home Runs, 41 RBI, 5 Stolen Bases, 32 Walks, .271 Batting Average, .335 On-base percentage, .391 Slugging Percentage, 146 Total Bases and 5 Sacrifice Hits.

In 10 seasons he played in 1,055 Games and had 3,585 At Bats, 476 Runs, 934 Hits, 167 Doubles, 36 Triples, 47 Home Runs, 373 RBI, 61 Stolen Bases, 307 Walks, .261 Batting Average, .322 On-base percentage, .367 Slugging Percentage, 1,314 Total Bases, 38 Sacrifice Hits and 3 Sacrifice Flies.

He died in Costa Mesa, California at the age of 74.
