Cat Mandu
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Cat Mandu was a British politician who served as joint leader of the Official Monster Raving Loony Party with Howling Laud Hope from the death of Screaming Lord Sutch in 1999 until his own death as a result of a traffic accident in July 2002. It is rumoured that Cat Mandu was the real winner of the 1999 membership ballot for the replacement for Sutch. Cat Mandu (sometimes called Cat-Mandu or just Mandu) was a ginger tabby cat of the species Felis silvestris catus. He is believed to have been named after the city of Kathmandu in Nepal.
Cat Mandu is most famous for being the first pet to be the leader of a British political party.
[edit] Political Policies
Cat Mandu's political views remain somewhat mysterious, as under his leadership, the Official Monster Raving Loony Party's 2001 election manifesto was a blank sheet of paper. However, the OMRLP is not known for its serious policies, rather for satirising what it calls the "unofficial" political parties, and providing an amusing protest vote. The party has long had a reputation for opposing speciesism, and was the first major political party to advocate votes for pets.
