Cassie Compton (born July 1987) is singer/songwriter and actress, famous for first appearing on the UK TV music talent show The X Factor. Compton finished fifth on the show in 2004 at just 17 years of age. Under guidance of mentor Sharon Osbourne in the under 25s group, bookmakers had her as one of the favourites to win throughout the show. She was eliminated from the competition three weeks before the final after ending up in the bottom two, however, some people say that her final performance on The X Factor singing "All By Myself" was the best of the entire series.[citation needed]

After the X Factor, she made an appearance at the Smash Hits awards where she and fellow X Factor star Tabby Callaghan presented an award to Kylie Minogue. Since then Compton has been recording songs and opened an official website. Her single "Stay with Me" charted at #14 in the official download chart as well as being a success at myspace.com.

After The X Factor, Compton starred as Alice Fitzwarren in Dick Whittington, the first pantomime at London Zoo, in December 2005. While working on this project she also starred in a Theatreworks production of Little Women, as Jo Marsh. She has recorded voicework for foreign language tapes, and made public appearances for charity events.

During mid 2006, Compton played a leading role as Lena in the musical play Diamond at The King's Head Theatre. Based on the real life characters of the Royal Oak pub, Bethnal Green, London, during World War II, Compton played a young prostitute who eventually gets pregnant and heads for a new life in the USA. She filmed a guest lead in two episodes the television series Casualty; the first of which was broadcast on 30 December 2006, and the second was broadcast on 31 December. She played Nessa, a young prostitute with a new born baby with health issues due to her line of work.
