[edit] Early life
She grew up in Sparta, NJ, a small town in Sussex County, New Jersey. She has one older brother. She began singing at a young age, when her father took her to a church where she sang gospel songs. Her mother's taste in music also influenced her, her mother enjoyed listening to Bruce Springsteen and Fleetwood Mac and other artists. After graduating high school, she moved to New York City, where she worked as a waitress. When she wasn't working she often performed solo or with a band. She stayed in New York for about a year and then moved to London, England. During her time in London she sang jazz standards as a session musician and with different bands. She then moved to Los Angeles, where she also worked as a session singer.
[edit] Antigone Rising
While in LA, she heard Antigone Rising was looking for a new lead singer. She sent the band a demo tape. She soon joined the band and for time lived with guitarist Kristen Henderson. The band released four independent albums with Cassidy singing lead vocals. They built a dedicated fanbase, known for following them along their East Coast tour stops. They were then offered a record deal by Lava Records in 2003, after Jasom Flom saw one of their shows. Their major label debut From the Ground Up was released exclusively through Starbucks coffeeshops, in conjunction with Starbucks' Hear Music series. They are currently recording their upcoming album tentatively scheduled for release in early 2007.
