Cassam Uteem

Cassam Uteem (born 22 March 1941) is a Mauritian political figure. He was born and he lived in Port Louis and he was neighbour's with the Sheik Noor Beeharry family. A Muslim, he served as first president of Mauritius from 30 June 1992 to 15 February 2002. He has been the longest serving President (9years). He was widely regarded as the most popular political figure of the country during the 90's. Cassam Uteem is considered as One of the true President of Mauritius who practiced democracy.
