Casey Scorpions
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Casey Scorpions is an Australian football team which plays in the VFL. The club is relatively new, founded in 1982 as the Springvale Football Club, playing under the name Springvale Scorpions. In its short history, the club has seen great success, winning five premierships: 1987, 1995, 1996, 1998 and 1999. Nevertheless, they were unable to survive in Springvale, and have played in a number of different suburbs over the past ten years.
The club is currently based at the Shepley Oval in Dandenong and is playing home games at Casey Fields in Cranbourne East. To reflect their various moves, the team was renamed from "Springvale Scorpions" to simply "Scorpions," and in 2006 to their current name "Casey Scorpions;" in spite of this, the club itself is still known as the Springvale Football Club, and retains an SFC monogram on its guernsey. It is affiliated with the AFL club St Kilda.
