A welcome from me also — that was one nice and meaty expansion over at MOSOP, I got you a sunflower for that :P. I also noted your creation of Ogoni people. Judging from your contributions so far, you might be interested in WikiProject Countering Systemic Bias and probably also the Africa-related regional notice board. Keep up the good work! [edit] Amazon Civilization
Hello Carwil!
In the article History of South America
Would minding telling me where you heard of:
- people lived on a complex combination of swidden agriculture, alteration of the forest ecosystem, and hunting and gathering. Concentrated in large settlements on the shores of the Amazon
For what I know, the pre-columbian amazon was inhabited by a wealth of communities, relatively isolated from each other, and they didn't really applied themselves to "large settlements" or "alteration of the ecosystem", leading mostly hunter/gatherer lifestyles.
I would be very interested in reading up the source of that. Thanks! Claus Aranha 08:27, 16 August 2005 (UTC)
- Yeah, I have googled up "pre-colombian amazon", and found some pretty interesting information. Thanks for the motivation. Since you're rewording your edit, I'll put what I've found on the talk page of the article, and add it later. It might be interesting to write that the notion of a densely populated amazon was brought about by recent archeological findings. Claus Aranha 09:36, 16 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Wikipedia Anti-war project, push to get a featured article b4 Xmass
February 15, 2003 anti-war protest, an article which is part of the WikiProject Anti-war of which you are listed as a member, has been recently rated A-class by the Version 1.0 Editorial team (see here) This means that it is considered to be of good quality. The Anti-war project has yet to achieve a featured article but with a little pushing I feel we could get this article up to FA standards. To this end I have put the article up for peer review, if you could help make this a brilliant article that would be much appreciated. Please give your comments at Wikipedia:Peer review/February 15, 2003 anti-war protest or on the article's talk page. Fingers crossed for a FA before Xmass.--JK the unwise 13:04, 30 November 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Wikiproject anti-war, Article improvement drive
February 15, 2003 anti-war protest an article from the WikiProject Anti-war, which you are listed as a member of, has been nominated for the Article Improvement Drive (by me ).
It is an article about a day of much importance both to the history of the anti-war movement and to general discussion of the Iraq war. With a little work from experienced editors it could gain FA status. If you would like to see it improved please vote for it at Make "February 15, 2003 anti-war protest" the subject of an Article Improvement Drive--JK the unwise 13:20, 16 January 2006 (UTC)

Myself and another editor have a few qualms with your map, which hopefully you can help us sort out. The main troubles are whether or not to include Thailand and what source you have for the inclusion of Myanmar, which we've been unable to find. Please take a look at Image talk:ExtRenditionMap.gif for the discussion. Thanks! Blackcap (talk) 18:23, 10 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Energy portal
Hi! As a contributor to WikiProject Climate change, I thought you might like to be aware of the opportunity to contribute to the new energy portal, now that there is one... No need to reply. Gralo 17:20, 3 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Thoughts?
Wikipedia:Templates_for_deletion/Log/2006_October_11#Template:Palestine. You'll notice it is the same block of voters who all come in and voted oppose to the renaming here: Talk:Allegations_of_Israeli_apartheid#Requested_move.2C_Retitle_Article_ASAP. It's coordinated block voting and I do not know how to respond to it appropriately. Maybe I should create a mailing list of people who I think will vote with me and call them up when I want to get rid of something I don't like. --Ben 04:32, 14 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Torture and USA
I've had a brief go at the US section on Uses of torture in recent times. It needs compressing heavily to a summary of the main torture article.
A second issue is that there are heavily referenced and summarized sections in Human rights and the United States which reference torture but are not included in either of these articles. See sections "Torture, abduction and abuse" and "Prison". These need copy/pasting into the main "torture" article, complete with references, and then a better summary done in the more general article.
Can IO leave this to you? Its needed. Thanks. FT2 (Talk | email) 19:50, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Energy portal & future selected articles
Hi! Over the past couple of months I've been spending much more time than I should developing the Energy portal, and intend asking for a portal peer review within the next day or so.
The portal provides a showcase for energy-related articles on Wikipedia. One of the most prominent ways is via a the selected article that is currently changed every 6 weeks or so. It would be good to increase this turnover, and with three Wikiprojects dedicated to energy-related topics and a good number of articles already written, I'd like to suggest that members of each Wikiproject might like to use the 'selected article' to feature some of their best work.
With this in mind, I'd like to suggest that your Wikiproject bypasses the normal selected article nomination page and decides collectively which articles are worth featuring - or these may be self-evident from previous discussions (or from here) - and add short 'introduction' to the selected article at the appropriate place on page Portal:Energy/Selected article/Drafts, which includes further information. Your personal involvement would be welcome!
Please make any comments on your Wikiproject talk page, my talk page, or on Portal talk:Energy/Selected article/Drafts, as appropriate. Gralo 15:54, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
