[edit] Naperville Central aerial photo
Where on the ncusd203.org/naperville203.org website does it say that those images can be reused freely? I'm going to tag the photo (which has been deleted before!) unless you can get permission from the district OR the original photographer. --JohnDBuell 21:33, 18 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] 1906 Olympics
I don't have any free images of the 1906 Summer Olympics. You might try looking at commons (http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:1906_Summer_Olympics would probably be a good place to start). -- Jonel | Speak 12:22, 14 February 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Image:1906athensstadium.JPG
I deleted the image you uploaded, Image:1906athensstadium.JPG for being redundant to the image on Commons. In most cases, you do not have to even upload an image from commons directly onto Wikipedia. All you have to do is enter [[Image:1906 Athens stadium.jpg]] and it will automatically display the image from commons (provided that there is not an image uploaded onto Wikipedia with the same name). Thanks. Zzyzx11 (Talk) 22:57, 14 February 2006 (UTC)
[edit] 1956 Olympics
The images you uploaded to Commons for the 1956 Summer Olympics are probably not free. I have left you a message there and also alerted the help desk there. I will modify the 1956 Olympics article to remove the unfree images. While I do not believe you can upload any unfree images to commons, you can upload logos to wikipedia images and tag them as fairuse logo by using {{logo}} - see Wikipedia:Logos. --A Y Arktos 23:10, 14 February 2006 (UTC)
- terrific logo uploading :-) --A Y Arktos 23:32, 14 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] football positions
First of all, all of these articles are still a work in progress and still needs work. Plus, you may want to read Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Free kick (American football) because someone complained about having a short stub article. So for now, it is wise to combine or merge articles that are short and basically repeat content of others. Zzyzx11 (Talk) 03:05, 15 February 2006 (UTC)
- Somebody posted a complaint on the Administrators' noticeboard about your recent edits on American football positions. So here are a couple of things to remember:
- Whenever you create an article, please follow our article naming policy. Specifically, do not capitalize second and subsequent words unless the title is a proper noun (such as a name) or is otherwise almost always capitalized (for example: John Wayne and Art Nouveau, but not Computer Game).
- If you want to merge a page (combine existing but similar or redundant pages into one), or want to rename a page from its current name to a new one, please follow the directions on Wikipedia:Merging and moving pages.
- Do not move or rename a page by copying/pasting its content, because doing so destroys the edit history. The GFDL, which Wikipedia uses to license its content to others, requires acknowledgement of all contributors, and editors continue to hold copyright on their contributions unless they specifically give up this right. Hence it is required that edit histories be preserved for all major contributions until the normal copyright expires. If you cannot rename a page, or you think that the renaming may be controversial, please go to Wikipedia:Requested moves and list it there.
[edit] team photos
First - please sign your posts on talk pages using four tildes~~~~ or using the button second from the right just above the editing screen with what looks like a signature scrawl! :-)
You asked:
- If I, for instance, go to the Yankees web site to get the 'official photograph' of Randy Johnson to put onto Wikipedia or Wikicommons, is that legal? How would I tag it? Would it be considered part of the 'press kit'?
I think so and therefore I would tag as {{Promophoto}} .
- Would a picture of a sports card be considered a sports poster?
I think so - I owuld use {{Sportsposter}}
- Am I allowed to take the poster images from allposters.com?
- only if tagged.
- Images are what confuse me the most about Wikipedia (I spend most of my time just fixing up articles), and it's hard to clarify all the legal nuances.
- However, I think it's really important for Wikipedia's future for the website to have better graphics, images, etc. Over the long run, I think it will be difficult to attract a large amount of the public (many whom have never been to Wikipedia) without better graphics on this site.
I agree - I think images can help, but the rules need to be followed and are there for good reason, You need to refer to Wikipedia:Fair use and Wikipedia:Image_copyright_tags#Fair_use for guidance. Regards--A Y Arktos 22:59, 15 February 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Camilo Villegas
How funny. I was trying to create an article about Camilo Villegas at exactly the same time you were. You beat me to the "Save" button. :) User:Zoe|(talk) 22:15, 4 March 2006 (UTC)
Camilo certainly had a huge following at the Doral. I said to my Dad, "I wonder if he's going to do for golf among Latinos as Tiger did among African-Americans." User:Zoe|(talk) 22:47, 7 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Rick mount.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Rick mount.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you.
