Dr. Carleton David Palmer (born March 18, 1946 in New York City) is an artist, scholar and educator, and is Director of The International Society for the Advancement of Living Traditions in Art, ISALTA, which is a NYS not-for-profit art organization that he co-founded with Dr. David W. Ecker in 1981.
A painter and photographer, Palmer was Head of Photography at the Museum of American Folk Art during the time of the Directorship of ISALTA’s first Chairman, Dr. Robert Bishop. As photographer for the Museum, and later as a free-lance photographer of art, he is responsible for the complete photography of many art books and periodicals of that period.
In the twenty-first century, Dr. Carleton Palmer has concentrated his effort on personal creative work and the further development of ISALTA’s Internet capabilities.
