[edit] Usage of his/her / him/her

According to the Darth Revan article, Revan is considered male (canonically). Referring to Revan as either him or her during the article must be confusing to a reader unsure of the character. I have made the necessary changes, but if anyone wishes to dispute this I will be watching the article and talk pages.

Some is editing pretty much every character-related article that deals with KotOR and KotOR II and foregoing canon by adding the him/her pronouns. I've been reverting them. Nufy8 06:21, 27 December 2005 (UTC)

Perhaps they are doing this to reflect the mechanics of the game? I've looked at the Wiki article on the Star Wars films, and it mentions the changes made in the rereleases of the movies--one would assume that now the rereleases are canon, but the original releases do still exist. The female Revan side of KotOR equally exists, in fact, it exists, if possible, even more so than the OT Star Wars original version does because while those releases are not widely available, the female Revan version of KotOR is simply a choice of the player and no one has rereleased KotOR to remove her. Perhaps it would be more honest to say that the Light Side Male Revan game is canon according to Lucas, then proceed to describe the game and the characters in ways that the game can actually be played? Otherwise a good portion of the game is not described. Also, I'm unaware as to the canon status of the Exile in KotOR II, but that game follows the precedent set by KotOR and allows both male and female, Dark Side and Light Side Revans. It's possible that it is more confusing to read almost exclusively about a male Revan in these games if the player has never played the game with a male Revan--they may find the articles jarring and may think that they are missing something because that was not their experience. 71.110.169.254 07:41, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
If you feel it necessary to add the NB from Darth Revan to every KotOR character's page in order to explain the canon situation (or just an NB that says see Revan's page), then go ahead. However, the three alternative universe subheadings under the Knights of the Old Republic heading on Carth's page seems to address your concern about all the possible ways to play the game. I'll put an NB on the character pages where it would be an issue (such as Bastila's), because I do find it jarring. I agree that Carth's article covers the possibilities of the game adequately--I just happened to encounter this note about the pronouns here first and thought I might explain why it was being done. I'm sure the people changing the pronouns would be happy to find a middle ground by using an NB where appropriate. 71.110.169.254 21:39, 7 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Carth in Star Forge

"Should Revan be female and choose the path of the dark side, Carth reappears at the Star Forge in an unsuccessful attempt to turn her to the light, after which she either slay Carth with her own hands...or order Bastila to finish the Republic pilot. Although in a cut-scene from the game, Revan has a third option. And that is to slay Bastila and die with the Star Forge with Carth."

well, I finished KotOR 2 times as dark side female and never found Carth on Starforge... I even searched KotOR walkthru on http://www.gamebanshee.com/starwarskotor/locations/deck1.php and I didn't find anything about Carth in SF... or this is only in Xbox version?

I was a little skeptical myself, but didn't bother removing it for some reason. I too do not recall Carth appearing on the Star Forge at any point to convert the player, and I have the Xbox version. Unless proven otherwise, I suggest that it be removed. Nufy8 19:22, 5 September 2005 (UTC)
It shouldn't be removed. If Revan is a dark side female but completed the romance sub-quest as fully as possible, he will be aboard the star forge, but will be unsuccessful in his attempts to sway Revan to the light. The romance quest must be fulfilled though, or he won't be there. Due to time constraints, the extra option in that dark side ending (where he is successful) was cut, but within the game the dialogue still exists. There was a PC mod that restored that ending, but the link to it at pcgamemods.com appears to be dead now. It is viewable here however: [1] (Eji)

I have the Xbox version and I've seen this bit. It's right after you've defeated Malak, when you come out. Carth appears and says something like "I had to come. I promised I will save you from yourself and I will." He'll only come after you in the Star Forge if he's in love with you. Of course it ends badly, with either you or Bastila killing him :-(

This is something that only happens if the romance with Carth is followed through. It's on the PC and XBox versions. He won't show up on the Star Forge in a DSF game if the romance is not active. 71.110.169.254 07:43, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
