- 1891 — Famed sports car designer Vittorio Jano is born in San Giorgio Canavese (Piedmont), Italy. Jano designed the Alfa Romeo P2, P3, and 1750, as well as Lancia and Fiat cars, but is best remembered as the designer responsible for bringing mid-engined cars to Ferrari, as well as for his work on the "Dino" engine and cars.
- 1933 — Henry Royce, co-founder of Rolls-Royce, dies.
- 2006 — Zagato unveils their one-off Ferrari 575 GTZ, the first Ferrari-badged Zagato in decades.
