Caruncle

Caruncle (Latin caruncula 'wart') can mean:
- In botany, an elaiosome, especially in the plant family Euphorbiaceae
- The sensory organ of Annelid worms, see Prostomium
- In human anatomy, various small fleshy excrescences, especially a small, red portion of the corner of the eye that contains modified sebaceous and sweat glands. Also the sublingual caruncle.
- In avian anatomy, the wattle or cockscomb of some birds.
