[edit] Brief history
Cartoon Network Philippines was formerly part of Cartoon Network Asia. It had started its broadcast in 1995 as the dual-channel TNT & Cartoon Network, operating from 6:00am to 9:00pm, with Turner Classic Movies (formerly TNT) taking the remainder of the daily schedule. Eventually, Cartoon Network Asia became a separate 24-hour channel, with exclusive local feeds for the Mandarin-speaking areas, the Philippines, and Australia.
[edit] Content
Almost all of its programs are either from Warner Bros., MGM and Hanna-Barbera. The Philippine feed is one of only two feeds that has Toonami as an animé/Super Sentai block, the other being to Indian feed the compete with Animax's South Asia feed.
[edit] Time Blocks
[edit] Existing Blocks
[edit] Tiny TV
A time block which is dedicated in showing cartoons and shows targeting the children ages seven and below. The block is somehow similar to Nick Jr. and Playhouse Disney.
They have shown some programmes, such as Postman Pat, Gordon the Garden Gnome, Krypto the Superdog, Pingu, Care Bears and Oswald. They are also the first to air Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends.
[edit] Toonami
A time block which is dedicated in showing animé, tokusatsu and Sentai, targeting teenagers 13 and up. All programs that are shown in this block are dubbed in English
Some of the animé programs shown on this block are Pokémon*, Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters, Gundam Seed, Gundam Seed Destiny and Battle B-Daman. The block also aired Chouseishin Gransazer, and The Justirisers.
[edit] Chunky Weekend Toons
This is a time block that shows classic cartoons, similar to its now defunct block Boomerang; it however only shows one show per month.
[edit] Adult Swim
A time block suited for mature audiences, targeting adults and teenagers at least 15 years old. So far, the Philippine feed is the only one in the Asia-Pacific region to have this block.
Adult Swim shows "adult" cartoons such as Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Sealab 2021, The Brak Show, and Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law. Gundam Seed and its subsequent sequel were later included in this block, this time in its unedited, English-dubbed glory.
