Cartela
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The M.V. Cartela is a ferry operating on the Derwent River in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. She is now Australia's oldest continuously licensed passenger vessel. Built at Battery Point, Hobart in 1912, Cartela has served through two world wars, shipped apples to Melbourne, brought back sugar for IXL jams, towed many a sailing ship, rescued lighthouse keepers and survived mountainous seas. "Cartela" is the Aboriginal word for Bull Seal.
