Cartel (rap group)

Cartel is one of the first Turkish rap groups. They are popular in Turkey, Germany and Austria.
Cartel contained three separate hiphop artists: Erci E., Karakan and Da Crime Posse. They recorded their self-titled album in 1995 but split up one year later. They were famous for pioneering the use of traditional Turkish musical instruments in rap. In 1998, Cartel made a single with the German musician Peter Maffay, but only Erci E. participated.
