Carson Ellis

Carson Friedman Ellis (born October 5, 1975) is an artist from Portland, Oregon. Her artwork is known for its subtle palette and dictinctive line quality.
She is best known for her work on the album covers of rock band The Decemberists. She was responsible for the covers for their albums The Crane Wife, Her Majesty The Decemberists, Castaways and Cutouts, and the "5 Songs" and "The Tain" EPs, as well as doing artwork for other albums such as Weezer, where she contributed to the liner notes for their album Make Believe. She has also made a number of flyers for bands to publicize their concerts. She has also provided illustrations for the 2007 children's novel The Mysterious Benedict Society by Trenton Lee Stewart.
She is currently in a relationship with Decemberists singer Colin Meloy, whom she met as a college roommate creating posters for his alt-country band Tarkio. She recently gave birth to their first child, Henry "Hank" Meloy. She and Meloy are currently working on an untitled children's book involving a talking cat.
