[edit] Plot Summary

The Carry On team's send up of the Tarzan/African exploration genre: Lady Evelyn Bagley (Joan Sims) finances an expedition to find her long-lost husband and baby son. Bill Boosey (Sid James) is the fearless hunter and guide. Professor Inigo Tinkle (Frankie Howerd) is searching for the rare Oozalum bird, which is said to fly in ever decreasing circles until it disappears up its own rear end. Lady Evelyn's finds her son, who is now a Tarzan-like ape-man, who then abducts a young woman. A gorilla enters the camp and wreaks havoc and the men get captured by an all female tribe from the lost world of Aphrodisia.

  2. Nina Baden-Semper who played a girl Nosha later became famous as one of the stars of situation comedy Love Thy Neighbour and was the subject of This Is Your Life in 1975.
  3. The film's title is reminiscent of other films made by Frankie Howerd in the same period, all with 'Up The' in the title, e.g. Up Pompeii, and Up The Chastity Belt
