Carrollwood, Florida

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Carrollwood is a unincorporated planned community in northwest Hillsborough County, Florida. It is located within the Census Designated Place of Greater Carrollwood. It was one of the first planned communities within the State of Florida and the first in Hillsborough County. It remains one of the most popular places to live within suburban Tampa because of its close proximity to the city compared to new developments. Carrollwood boundaries include Lake Magdalene to the north, Tampa to the east, Egypt Lake to the south, and Citrus Park to the west.

[edit] History

Like other suburban communities around Tampa, Carrollwood was built in the early 1960s. The community spread westward during the 1970's and 80's and subdivisions of Fairway Village and Carrollwood Village were created.
