Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart

Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart is a Catholic college preparatory day school for girls founded in 1961 in the neighborhood of Coconut Grove in Miami, Florida. It is the only pre-K-12 girls school in the state of Florida. It is among the most elite private schools in Miami.
It is also a member of the Network of Sacred Heart Schools, originally founded by Saint Madeleine Sophie Barat.

Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart was founded in 1961. The history of the Society of the Sacred Heart dates back to the 1800s when the society was founded by St. Madeleine Sophie Barat in France. St. Philippine Duchesne, in 1818, became the first missionary of the Society of the Sacred Heart to come to North America. She founded the first American free school west of the Mississippi. She founded the first six Sacred Heart schools in the United States.
Carrollton is a member of the Network of Sacred Heart Schools.

Carrollton has a nationally recognized debate team. In the Spring of 2007, the school will host a national robotics competition.
Carrollton students in the High School recently participated in the Fairchild Challenge, which is an annual environmental program, open to high schools and middle schools.
Carrollton is currently expanding, with the Founders Library and Science-Technology Hall scheduled to open in January 2007. Plans are underway to begin building an Intermediate Science-Math Pavilion.
