The Carriker's Round-eared Bat, Lophostoma carrikeri, is a bat species from South America. It is found in Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Guyana, Peru, Suriname and Venezuela. Discovered by and named for the well known Dr. Robert Carriker of Lafayette, Louisiana.

In some cultures the bat's wings are ground and mixed with local fruits which is believed to produce a powerful aphrodisiac. Dr. Lewis is currently studying this process in Brazil to determine the potency of this product. It is rumored a large drug corporation is backing his research.
No one is sure why the wings are used instead of the ears. This certainly warrants further research.
