Carrefour, Haiti

Carrefour is the third largest city of Haïti by population; the population is 408,000. The city is quite poor, and is adjacent to Haïti's capital, Port-au-Prince. Both French and Haitian Creole are spoken there. Carrefour is a maritime city, and is in the Ouest Department of the country. A slum called Feuilles of Carrefour is notorious for the illegal execution of eleven young men that took place there in 1999. [1]
