Carr Van Anda

Carr Van Anda (1864-1945) was the Managing Editor of The New York Times from 1904-1924.

Van Anda was fluent in hieroglyphics and was able to secure almost exclusive coverage of the opening of Tutankhamun's tomb by Howard Carter in 1923.

The E. W Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University gives the "Carr Van Anda Award" to recognize outstanding work by journalists during their careers.
