Carolyn Warmus

Carolyn Warmus (born January 8, 1964, Saint Clair Shores, Michigan), an Edgemont, New York schoolteacher, is serving a life sentence for first-degree murder in New York. Warmus was convicted of the murder of Betty Jean Solomon, the wife of her lover Paul Solomon, in Edgemont, where Warmus and Solomon were both Greenville Elementary schoolteachers. The case became known as the "Fatal Attraction" murder.
Paul Solomon was originally the prime suspect in the slaying, due to inconsistencies in his alibi, and as no evidence pointed to anyone else. (As well as the fact in the case of murdered married women, their husbands often are considered the chief suspect) It was later revealed that Solomon had met Warmus at a Holiday Inn bar called the Treetops Lounge after he had lied to his wife about going bowling with friends. According to Warmus, she had performed fellatio on Solomon in the darkened atmosphere of the Treetops Lounge, which was a common meeting place for adulterers and casual lovers. Some time after the meeting, Solomon's wife had been shot to death.
The trial of Carolyn Warmus received similar "media circus" atmopshere that would characterize future high profile trials such as that of O.J. Simpson. The main focus was on destruction of Solomon's credibility now that he admitted to adultery with Warmus. Another focus of cameramen was the colorful designer clothes Warmus would often be seen wearing to court, which complimented her attractive appearance. Warmus eventually was found guilty and received a sentence of 25 years to life. She will ineligible for parole until 2017, when she is 53 years old.
Following Warmus' conviction, the widowered Paul Solomon started a relationship with another Greenville teacher may years his junior. He lost his job as a teacher after Greenville residents successfully petitioned his superiors to have him fired.
Warmus, to this date, proclaims her innocence at the Bedford Hills Correctional Facility for Women in New York State where she is serving a life sentence. In an ironic twist, Warmus' current residence of the Bedford Hils Facility is less than fifty kilometers away from the Treetops Lounge, where she had her tryst with Solomon.
