Carolina Ovalle Arango, known to fans as "Carolina La O" Born on April 12, 1975 in Manizales, Colombia. She was a member of the salsa/cumbia group, Alquimia until 1999, when she released her own solo record, El Son de Ahora[1], with a rhythm similar to the work she did while in Alquimia. This album is an astonishing tour-de-force displaying the power of her big, brassy voice. Two years later, in 2001 Carolina returned with Dulce Veneno[2], the title of her first single, and a style of her own. Dulce Veneno was an album featuring straight-up salsa fusioned with cumbia Colombian-style, ballads, and a slick of boleros. The album was filled out by including remixes of the title song, Dulce Veneno in ranchera, ballad, and the original salsa format. Although weaker than her first solo effort, it contains a stunning song "Sabe a Chocolate". A year later she came out with self-titled Carolina [3], an awful attempt at producing generic dance music. In 2004, she was featured on the Latin American television hit, Protagonistas de la Fama VIP.

Most recently Carolina is touring for her latest album, De Mi Fuego[4], released in the spring of 2006. This album displays a different side of Carolina La O's talent, featuring mainly cumbia and Colombian inspired rhythms. Although it contains a lot of dance tracks and is heavily overproduced, it still works well as a display of her tremendous vocal talent.
