Carole Hillard

Carole Hillard (born August 14, 1936) was the first woman to serve as Lt. Governor or South Dakota. Hillard, a Republican, served under Governor Bill Janklow, serving from 1995 to 2003. Prior to her service as Lt. Governor, Hillard represented a portion of Rapid City, South Dakota in the South Dakota State Legislature from 1991 to 1994.
