Carol Twombly

Carol Twombly is an American calligrapher and typeface designer who has designed a number of well known types, including Myriad and Adobe Caslon. She worked as a type designer at Adobe for nine years, during which time she designed, or contributed to the design of many typefaces.

- Born in 1959
- Explored her artistic interest as a child, and went to the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) for sculpture, but switched to graphic design
- Inspired by her professors Charles Bigelow and Kris Holmes
- Participated in the digital typography program at Stanford University

- 1984 Morisawa gold prize
- 1994 Charles Peignot award from the Association Typographique Internationale - The first woman and the second American ever to receive this prestigious award
