Carneal House

The Carneal House is located at 405 East Second Street in Covington, Kentucky. It is Covington's oldest house built in 1815. It was built by Thomas D. Carneal a founder of Covington. It is a two story brick home with arched windows. Carneal had Elmwood Hall built in 1818 (Ludlow, Kentucky) this is what became known as Hygeia .
Later the home was purchased by William Wright Southgate, a Congressmen from Northern Kentucky. He added a large wing circa 1835 for his large family. The home is now located in the Licking-Riverside Historic District in Covington.
