Carmel High School (Carmel, California)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Carmel High School is a school of 750 students and 50-plus faculty members, situated just outside of the city of Carmel, California. Built in 1940, CHS is known for its lovely view of the Santa Lucia Mountains with a peek of Point Lobos and the Pacific Ocean. It shares a cross town rivalry with Pacific Grove High School, where every year the two teams battle for a bronze shoe during "The Shoe Game", which PG has dominated Carmel in for the past 60 years winning by huge margins. Baseball has been the only success of the school's athletic program leading to an uproar among the community. The school's mascot is the majestic Padre and pays homage to the peninsula's history with the Spanish missionaries.

The Carmel High School Library has about 16,000 volumes and is equipped with wireless communication.

As of 2005, the school principal is Mr. Karl Pallastrini.
