[edit] Bio
Carlos Timón was born on November 24, 1972 in Madrid, Spain.
Carlos became interested in music early and began tacking up sheets of Velvet Underground, Surfin’ Bichos, Tom Waits and Sonic Youth's lyrics in his room and even framed some in the rest of his house. He would keep a pad of paper and pencil by his bed so that he could remember the lyrics that he would think up in the middle of the night. He taught himself how to compose his first songs at a neighbor's house (David López) and also learned the guitar on a nylon string one. Together with Antonio Pedriza (drums), Jesús Angel Pérez (bass) and David López (guitar) they formed Kebrantas and caught someone's eye, because Unai Fresnedo had signed them on to Radiation Records at the age of 22.
As well as creating music at an early age, the persona that Carlos is famous for soon appeared. He enjoyed playing John Cage and Charles Yves as soon as his secondary schooling. An art class teacher would let him play his melódica for the class and sometimes he would be asked to improvise for half an hour his version of a "soft shoe".
Timón got into the music business at an early age. In the summer of 1989 he was playing music at Sirocco and Maravillas in Madrid. He would get up between band sound checks and perform on a stage.
His five-string stylings, which blended elements of classical guitar with an ironic No Wave aesthetic, caught the ear of a number of artists who were also interested in amalgamating and disrupting disparate musical traditions.
In recent years, Carlos's work has included Insecto's sessions with Fran Bell, Belinda Baxter, Malik Otham Yaqub, Matt Elliott (Third eye foundation). Carlos also continues to do a great deal of work with Fran Padilla - Irakere -, Javier Gallego, Javier Díez and Javier Adán (former members of Dead Capo), having all of them played on Lava's Swings of fate album.
