Carlo Orelli

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Carlo Orelli (December 23, 1894 - January 22, 2005) was the oldest living Italian veteran of World War I who had been in the Army when Italy joined the war. Born in Perugia, he attained this status following the March 16, 2004 passing of Pasquale Frasconi, also 110. Following Orelli's death at the age of 110 too it was wrongly claimed that he was Italy's last living WWI veteran, when in fact there were still about two dozen living at the time. He was in fact its oldest one and the last veteran to have fought from Italy's entry into the war on May 24, 1915.
