Carleton, Quebec

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The city of Carleton lies on the southern shore of the Gaspé Peninsula in the province of Quebec, Canada. Like many cities on the peninsula, a large part of its economy relies on its appeal to tourists. It is very close to Perce Rock, and is located on the side of the 132 Highway which runs along the shore, eventually reaching Gaspé City and returning. As of 2001, the municipality had a population of 4,010.

Attractions include Carleton beach and festivals, notably the "Maximum Blues" festival, held annually in early August. Despite the small size of the city, many renowned artists have made appearances there. The Blues festival started in 1992 and is currently in its 14th year. The water in the Bay de Chaleur (Bay of Warmth) is actually quite cold, so it is advisable you bundle up even in August.
