Carl Wilhelm von Zehender (May 21, 1819 - December 19, 1916) was a German ophthalmologist who was born in Bremen. He was an ophthalmologist in Neustrelitz, Berne and Rostock. At the University of Rostock he was chair of ophthalmology and co-founder of its ophthalmological clinic.

Zehender is considered the founder of opthalmic microsurgery, as he introduced the practice of using a binocular corneal loupe during eye operations. He was founder and editor (1863-1899) of the opthalmic journal Klinische Monatsblaetter fur Augenheilkunde, and was instrumental in the creation of the Heidelberger Ophthalmologische Gesellschaft, which was predecessor to the Deutsche Ophthalmologische Gesellschaft.
