Carl Conrad Coreander is the old man who owns the bookstore in the opening scene of Michael Ende's novel The Neverending Story. The protagonist, Bastian, enters the bookstore to get out of the rain and meets Mr. Coreander for the first time. Mr. Coreander does not like children, and tells Bastian that he will not sell him any books. When the phone rings, Mr. Corander goes into another room and Bastian steals the book which Mr. Corander was reading. Its title is "The Neverending Story."
In the Neverending Story film the character's name was spelled Koreander[1].
