Cardillac is an opera by Paul Hindemith. Based on the short story, Das Fräulein von Scuderi by E.T.A. Hoffmann, it made its first appearance at the Staatsoper, Dresden on 9 November 1926. The libretto is by Ferdinand Lion and the piece is in Hindemith's neo-classical style.
