Description

The Capitol Theatre in Swanston Street, Melbourne was opened in 1924. It was designed by architects Walter Burley Griffin and Marion Mahony Griffin, and is considered one of his finest works. Architect Robin Boyd described it thus: "The best cinema that was ever built or is ever likely to be built". The building is now owned by RMIT University.
