Captivating (book)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Captivating is a popular and controversial book in the American/Christian market. Published in 2005 by John Eldredge and his wife Stasi, it proposes that women have three desires: to be romanced, to engage in adventure, and to be seen as beautiful.

As well as developing these three themes, the book centers on the ideal woman as being visually and emotionally "captivating" to her husband and to God. This focus on a woman's own beauty as her prime possession and desire has been both heartily applauded and heavily criticized.

It is the counterpart to the earlier book for men, Wild at Heart also by John Eldredge.
