Captain of Industry are a four piece band hailing from Dayton, Ohio, the fertile indie breeding ground that has produced such mainstay acts as Guided by Voices, Brainiac, and The Breeders. Formed in 2002, Captain of Industry has picked up where those bands left off, experimenting with garage rock, new-wave, punk, and alternative to create a sound all their own.

Their first full length recording, ! (originally released in 2003), features a sound that "manages to sound fresh and new while harkening back to such classic post-punk acts as The Smiths, U2, R.E.M. and XTC, with dashes of King Crimson, Don Caballero and Radiohead tossed in for good measure. The modern pop-rock songs are bursting with memorable melodic hooks, clever rhythmic shifts, tasteful arrangements and Oldfield's arsenal of guitar tones and effects pedals." (Sponic Zine 16)

With the release of their debut album, Captain of Industry developed a strong regional following throughout Ohio, culminating in a packed to capacity performance at the 2004 Midpoint Music Festival in Cincinnati. Following rave reviews in the Cincinnati and Dayton press, Captain signed to Do Tell Records, an independent label with a strong catalog of artists including The Slackers, Enon, Pulley, and Skeleton Key.

Captain of Industry embarked on three successful tours of the United States in 2004-2005, performing at such notable clubs as The Troubadour (Hollywood, CA), Slim's (San Francisco, CA), The Bottom Lounge (Chicago, IL) and the Knitting Factory (New York City, NY). Captain of Industry has performed over 60 shows in late 2005 alone, taking the stages with acts like Toots and the Maytals, The Slackers, Enon, Ambulette, Maritime, and many others.

Captain of Industry's music can be found everywhere. Digital distribution by iTunes, the Orchard, Amazon, Interpunk, AOL.com Music, pureVolume.com, and GarageBand.com has brought the band to listeners all over the world. Captain of Industry's music has also been licensed in various media including a college-rock compilation featuring Guided by Voices, Fuse TV and Fox Sports Net television programs, Toyota's Driving Expectations website, and a myriad of music blogs, online radio stations, and podcasts.

In October 2005 Captain of Industry released their second full-length album, The Great Divide, out now on Do Tell Records. This album finds a more mature band expanding their musical horizons to Beach Boys-esque vocal arrangements and rhythm-driven dance music as complements to their signature brand of melodic rock. With strong radio support from college stations across the country and a large online fan community with over 16,000 plays on MySpace, Captain of Industry's latest release is poised to become a major success in 2006.

Captain of Industry are preparing for their first European tour in 2006, and will continue touring the states and the world to spread their music to the masses.
