Captain Syrup

Captain Syrup is a video game character who appears in two games in Nintendo's Wario Land series. Syrup is Wario's first female nemesis and the second female boss in the extended Super Mario series (after Wendy O. Koopa). She is also the first character since Bowser's introduction to appear as the end boss in more than one game; only Donkey Kong has since done this.

Personality-wise, Wario and Captain Syrup are similar in that they are both greedy, ambitious, and ruthless.

In her first appearance, the player learns that a ruthless figure named Syrup commands the Brown Sugar Pirates, a band of rogues dedicated to their captain's service. As captain of the S.S. Teacup, a pirate ship. Syrup stole a statue of Princess Peach, and Wario has been in hot pursuit ever since, hoping to turn in the statue for the reward money. on the pirates' hideout, Kitchen Island.

The instruction manual for the game's American translation refers to Syrup as a "he," (as with Samus Aran in the original Metroid) so players may be surprised when they finally encounter Syrup in the final room of Syrup Castle and find that the pirate leader is actually a woman.

In the end, Wario must fight Syrup's genie while Syrup sits on his shoulders. When Wario beats the genie, Syrup blows up her entire castle and flees, vowing revenge. Wario temporarily regains the statue of Princess Peach, but Mario flies in on a helicopter and snatches it away.

Syrup and her minions return for the sequel, Wario Land 2. Wario awakens one morning to the noise of his alarm clock blaring--it's Syrup, now running with the Black Sugar Gang, and they're taking Wario's loot. Wario chases Syrup through various areas, and can fight her as an "end" boss several times before beating her for good. In these matches, Syrup tries everything from throwing bombs to riding monsters in an effort to defeat Wario. Ultimately, Wario steals all of Syrup's treasure.

In both games she appears in, Syrup has her own army of generic enemies, including the Goom, a slow-moving grunt designed much in the manner of the Goomba.

Wario later went on to fight a variety of different villains, such as Rudy the Clown in Wario Land 3, the Golden Diva in Wario Land 4 and the Black Jewel in Wario World. It is unknown at this point what became of her, or if she will return.
