Capitalism Magazine
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Capitalism Magazine is an online magazine dedicated to the advocacy of unregulated capitalism, which is maintained by Mark Da Cunha. The principles he advocates derive from an orthodox reading of the Objectivist philosophy of Ayn Rand. Several related webpages run by Capitalism Magazine such as Capitalism.org are devoted to explaining her ideas, though non-Objectivists such as Daniel Pipes, Thomas Sowell, Walter Williams and others contribute articles to some of the associated publications. Capitalism Magazine also sponsors other sites such as IsraelIsMoral.com, AbortionIsProLife.com and ObjectiveEconomics.com based on specific issues. Capitalism Magazine is friendly with the Ayn Rand Institute, and several Ayn Rand Institute members such as Leonard Peikoff, Harry Binswanger, Andrew Bernstein, and Yaron Brook provide content for Capitalism Magazine and its affiliate sites. The positions of the two groups overlap extensively.
The website claims to represent the ideology of capitalism and uses the term "capitalism" with a very specific meaning. According to the site, many people who describe themselves as supporters of capitalism (most notably conservatives) are not “capitalists” because they do not support a completely unregulated (laissez-faire) capitalist economy and oppose abortion rights. Capitalism.com also targets libertarians as being anticapitalist due to their anarchist wing and perceived contempt for philosophy.
The magazine is funded in part by PayPal donations, which are optional for readers. Additional revenue comes from Google advertisements.
