Capital Journal is a newspaper in Pierre, South Dakota.
The Capital Journal, founded in 1881, serves the areas of Pierre and Fort Pierre in South Dakota. The Capital Journal was founded by the Hipple family and remained in the family until 2005 when the paper was purchased by Wick Communications of Sierra Vista, Arizona.
Russ Cannon was hired as the paper's publisher in 2005, and Andrew Cutler was hired as the editor in 2006.
