Cape Verde Travel

Travel within the Cape Verde islands is possible by ATR 44 light aircraft or ferry. Seven of the islands have airports, that accommodate STOL aircraft. All nine inhabited islands have ports.

Air Services

TACV the national airline is a monopoly carrier (2006). It does not publish a timetable. Tickets can be bought at the TACV shop at each airport by queuing and paying in cash (euros or escudos). Flights are often delayed and sometimes cancelled due to weather or operational conditions.

Sal-Praia, Sal-Mindelo, Sal-Boa Vista, Praia-Mindelo, Praia-Sao Felipe

Several times weekly

Sal-Sao Nicolau-Mindelo, Praia-Maio, Praia-Boa Vista, Praia-Sao Nicolau

There is also an occasional excursion service with Cape Verde Express

Ferries

Several ferries operate between the islands with much lower fares than the airline.

Mindelo-Porto Novo, Praia-Porto do Maio

Several times weekly

Praia-Mindelo, Praia-Sao Felipe-Brava

Once a week

Praia-Sao Nicolau-Mindelo-Porto Novo, Sal-Boa Vista-Porto do Maio-Praia-Sao Felipe-Midelo-Sao-Nicolau-Sal (circular service in both directions taking a week)
