Cape Henlopen High School is currently divided into two campuses; one for year 9 students and one for 10-12 students. This is because of the growing student population and an overflow of students at the middle and elementary schools in the district. Currently a new school is being built [Knows as the "Cape To Great!" act], expected to be completed in 2010 so this years Freshmen can be the first class to graduate. Once this is done, all high school students will be in one building. The current 10-12 builing will be knocked down and the Ninth Grade Campus will be used for other students, such as the day care program it also has.

The school requires less credits for graduation then other schools. The band represents the school the best; other than sports. The Marching Band is constantly out in parades, the jazz band preforms locally and they preform every football game for the community. The band is actually so good, they were invited to march in the DC parade for St. Patrick's Day- a parade that catches media attention equal to that of the Macy's Day Parade. However, band director Barry Eli was forced to decline because too many students had other engagements to attent.

At the Ninth Grade Campus, teachers tend to be neglectful in student's attendence, as many students walk off the school grounds to skip classes or go into the bathroom. It's also been reported there were sexual acts and drugs done in the bathrooms by students skipping classes.
