Caparica is a Portuguese parish, located in the municipality of Almada. It has a population of 19,327 inhabitants and a total area of 10.71 Km².

The word Caparica seems to derive from the Latin cappar, cappari or capparis, which means caper. Therefore, caparica is a place where capers exist.
