This is a great little diagram, just the sort of thing that Wikipedia could do with more of. I did notice that the word 'culvert' is misspelt in the diagram - it would be nice if this could be corrected. Enchanter

It's been fixed now. Not by me, but it has. Just thought I'd point that out for the benefit of anybody who sees this page and thinks it's still misspellt. --Camembert

The bottom gate is indeed too low. If this lock existed then it could never be filled to the level of the upper canal, as water would flow straight over the top of the bottom gate before it ever reached the level of the upper canal. If I knew how to edit the actual diagram I would do it myself! Ian S UK
