Canyon Hills School

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Canyon Hills School is a special school for severely disabled individuals between the ages of 3 and 22 years of age. It is located in Anaheim, California, and is centered south of the Canyon High School campus in the neighborhood of Anaheim Hills. It is part of the Orange Unified School District, and is one of six recognized special needs schools in the district. The current enrollment is 90 students.

Students older than 16 years are encouraged to get involved in the rigorous job training offered at school, and will assist its students in finding jobs that meet their individual capacity. Every 3 years, students are evaluated, and it is determined whether the child (or adult) needs the classes offered at Canyon Hills any more. Students do not receive report cards, yet do receive progress checks, which evaluate their performance and track improvements. Many students have a high success rate of meeting their capabilities in normal society, which adds to the success of the school.

The current principal is Diane Osborn.
