Canton, Iowa
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Canton ia a small town in Jackson County, Iowa in the United States. It is located near the west county line, near the border of Jones County on the Maquoketa Caves Road where the road crosses the South Fork of the Maquoketa River.
The town once had a population of approximately 2,000 people, but when the railroad bypassed Canton in favor of the city of Maquoketa, the population plummeted.
Canoes are available to rent in Canton and the Longbranch, a restaurant/gas station/bar, is located there. The Longbranch has been a saloon for over 100 years (known for its pork chops) with colorful characters still frequenting it.
