Cannibal is the name of the forthcoming Static-X studio album, which will be their fifth overall. It is set to be released on April 3, 2007. The first single from the album is "Cannibal", a while before the album's release "Destroyer" will set off as the second one. When asked about the album, Wayne Static said - "I think it’s the most metal record we’ve ever made, and it’s arguably the heaviest record we’ve ever made. But with this record, I had a good time just getting back to balls-out screaming and challenging myself vocally, as well as in the songwriting. I felt like I was back working on Wisconsin Death Trip, where I focused on stripping away the excess as much as possible to write short, simple, catchy songs." [1]
No Submission is additionally available on Saw III soundtrack. The title song Cannibal became available on iTunes on 5th February as a digital download single. Destroyer appeared later, on 13th February and appeared as an EP by 20 March. Videoclips for both songs are being made in the same time. Destroyer's one is about to be premiered on 6 April.
While the title song Cannibal was inspired by Wayne's vegetarian thoughts of people eating meat, Reptile is simply about being eaten alive by a huge reptile. On January 18th, 2007, a MySpace bulletin from the band revealed the track listing. Additionally, it is the first Static-X album without an "otsego" song on it.
The full album leaked onto peer-to-peer networks on March 26, 2007.
