Candice Daly (January 4, 1963 - December 14, 2004) was an American film and television actress. In the late 1980s and early 1990s she starred in a number of B-movies and cult films such as After Death (1988) and Liquid Dreams (1991). Perhaps the role which garnered her the widest audience was psychotic Veronica Landers on American soap opera The Young and the Restless from 1997 to 1998. Veronica Landers had been put in a mental institution by her husband Josh (Heath Kizzier). Upon learning he had remarried the wealthy and beautiful Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott), Veronica threw herself in front of a car, but lived and got plastic surgery. With her new face, she was hired as a maid at the Newman estate, then gunned down her husband, dated the Newman butler Miguel (Anthony Pena) and nearly killed Nikki before falling on a pitchfork in the stables.
Work was scarce for Daly after her soap days ended, and she was found dead in a rundown Los Angeles apartment on December 14, 2004. The cause was listed as unknown but drug abuse was suspected. The American tabloid The Globe claimed she had been fired from Y&R because of her drug problems and was difficult to work with; Melody Thomas Scott blasted the report and stated on behalf of the entire cast and crew of the show that Daly was a lovely, funny, very professional woman whom they had never had any problems with.
