CanWest Global Park
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Canwest Global Park is the home of the Winnipeg Goldeyes Northern League baseball team in Winnipeg, Manitoba. It is a modern stadium that opened May 24, 1999, with the 2nd largest seating capacity (after Edmonton's Telus Field and Calgary's Foothills Stadium ) in the league (7,400). The stadium is located in downtown Winnipeg, within sight of Winnipeg's renowned Portage and Main intersection and immediately adjacent to The Forks National Historic Site. It is named after Canwest Global, Canada's largest international media company, but sometimes goes by the nickname "The Fishbowl" ("goldeye" being a species of freshwater fish native to Winnipeg's waterways).
